The Greater Gainesville Chamber is a five-star Chamber accredited by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. The Chamber’s vision is for Greater Gainesville to be a global hub of talent, innovation and opportunity. It strives to advance that vision via a mission to facilitate economic opportunity, business success and community progress. As a member of the Greater Gainesville Chamber, you will be among a group of more than 1,300 member organizations that enjoy enhanced opportunities for visibility, education, networking and credibility.
The Greater Gainesville Chamber’s newly appointed President and CEO, Eric Godet, Sr., has graced the Gainesville community with his business acumen, professionalism, and community service for over two decades. Kevin Monroe, Chairman of Greater Gainesville Chamber’s Board of Directors, and its members needed little persuasion in recognizing “that we had an excellent candidate right here in the community – someone with close ties to so many institutions and organizations – and he just so happened to already be occupying the corner office at the Chamber (as
the Interim President/CEO). His deep roots in the community, his experience serving in volunteer Chamber leadership roles, and his ability to bring diverse groups to consensus will enhance prospects for our members and for the entire community.”
Godet’s leadership of the Chamber is at an important time in Greater Gainesville’s history, as the Chamber re-imagines and hones its vision of what the organization can do to further enhance the quality of life in the Greater Gainesville area. Economic development, public policy, education and employment initiatives are continuously making headlines. “Greater Gainesville is undergoing a period of accelerated growth, and there is a lot of energy and vibrancy in many parts of our community. Growth is essential for survival, and if we’re smart about this growth, we can ensure that it is sustainable and that everyone in our community can enjoy its benefits. I hear the calls for greater unity, and I believe the best way to achieve unity is to focus on the opportunities that we all can agree will benefit the community the most. There are already so many examples of close cooperation between City, County, Chamber, community organizations and our many institutions, and I intend to create more. I see a great future in store for the Gainesville region.”
Just prior to his new appointment in December of last year, Godet served as the Chamber’s Interim President/CEO for four months. He was also the Greater Gainesville Chamber’s Chairman of the Board of Directors in 2010, Chairman of the Chamber’s Public Policy Committee, and Chairman of the
Council for Economic Outreach in 2009. Godet’s other past professional affiliations include; President/CEO of Godet Industries International, Vice President of Haven Hospice, and a founding member of RTI Surgical.
